6th December 08
I have worked very hard in the recent weeks. I really enjoyed working on the Arthur Fowler competition brief and wanted to get a good grade. And I did!! My first Distinction!!! I was very pleased.. And I had made the deadline too. Now I know whats involved to get a distinction lets see if I can get another next time.
13th December 07 (last day of term)
This week I have been working on my year plan for 08. Since I have planned I have changed my mind on my next brief, I have decided to do the 'Nude' cosmetics brief for the YCN competition. I like this brief because it's advertising and I would like to have this kind of work in my portfolio. Last night I went to Harvey Nichols were they sell Nude and got alot of info on the product - and samples! Need to brainstorm next.
I have also been working on my contextual studies, my 1000 words and generally making sure that I am prepared and have everything I need to work over the xmas break.

'Arthur Fowler' project - The Roses Brief

I decided to work on the 'Arthur Fowler' brief for the Roses awards, I wanted to create an animation as I hadn't done one yet. The emphasis of the brief was to rid the Arthur Fowler image of the allotment and promote having your own outdoor space, seeing space as more as a sanctuary. I wanted to create something with texture and with an illustrated look. I wanted to inject humour into my animation too.
I really enjoyed working on this brief, my idea came quite quickly, I enjoyed the fun concept. Although I worked in my sketchbook my work developed as I started to animate, I learnt new skills such as masking in motion. I enjoyed working with Photoshop, Illustrator, Motion and Final Cut as a package. I used my creative skills in drawing and painting for my media. This project has inspired me to work more in this way.

The Snow Queen - The Palace Theatre

My favourite character was the Reindeer, his dance showed true character to the animal, he was a trustworthy Reindeer who took Gerda to the Snow Queens Palace to find Kay.
It was a great performance but I still prefer The Birmingham Royal Ballet who normally perform at The Lowry. Their sets are better, more content and the dancing more powerful.
