The Snow Queen - The Palace Theatre

I have been to see The Snow Queen at The Palace Theatre in Manchester. It was a production by The English National Ballet of a classic fairytale written by Hans Christian Andersen, It was very good! The setting was mainly white, the costumes all white with huge glittering jewels by Swarovski. The snow queen herself is a strong powerful woman who puts a spell on a boy called Kay. Anyway there was a happy ending! The only thing that spoiled it for me is that the queen wasn't the powerful looking lady in the picture above, but a ballerina from Asia - does it snow in Asia???? anyway, for me it didn't quite work.
My favourite character was the Reindeer, his dance showed true character to the animal, he was a trustworthy Reindeer who took Gerda to the Snow Queens Palace to find Kay.
It was a great performance but I still prefer The Birmingham Royal Ballet who normally perform at The Lowry. Their sets are better, more content and the dancing more powerful.
